“Music doesn’t have to come from a certain place to be special. What’s special is having fun with your friends and being able to do what you want to do with your music.” -Katie, lead singer (KEXP interview)

When I first listened to Priests, I was completely surprised with how much it inspired me right off the bat. It was something that reeled me in from start to finish, had me dancing around my apartment and convinced me to believe in the band that my roommate and I want to start. The latest album, Nothing Feels Natural, pin points my anxieties with its powerful lyrics and eclectic sounds while simultaneously confronting tough questions about our current political and social climate.

Full of passion, rage, and connection, Nothing Feels Natural is an album that covers existential dread, rage at authority, consumerism and disposability. The combination of Daniele Daniele’s heavy drums as the band’s backbone, GL Jaguar’s vibrant and innovative guitar that punches you in the face, and Taylor Mulitz’s forceful post-punk bass support Katie Alice Greer’s unique voice and fully charged lyrics. You can literally feel the confidence in their sound as it pounds out of your speakers. In a review by Post-Trash.com, they describe the band perfectly: “They are a whole unit, working together as one force, fully in charge of the statement they are putting out into the world.”
