I got a text from one of my good friends from Manchester about two years ago saying, “Sav, I’ve found the perfect band for you that you’re going to love.” I pull up the Soundcloud link and Sucker by The Big Moon begins to play. Raw guitar riffs, an instantly catchy bass line, punky drum beat and a unique voice caught my attention. It was in that first moment of hearing only the first verse that I knew I made a deep connection with the band.

Almost two years later, and now I am listening to their new and improved version of Sucker on their debut album Love In The 4th Dimension. The band should not only be applauded for their raw sounds, solid songwriting and energetic production, but also for their patience and hard work they’ve put into the album. They are the type of band you see on Facebook that is always touring and doing something in the studio all at once. I’ve asked myself multiple times if they are some sort of musical wizards because of all the different things they have accomplished.

Love In The 4th Dimension is an adventure full of experimental sounds, an array of textures, playful & boisterous indie rock and relatable lyrics for any listener. When I listen to the album, I feel like jumping and dancing in my underwear around my apartment. The album gives listeners a close connection with the band since it was recorded live— the ladies send playful and self-revealing vibes through every guitar riff, bass line, punchy drum beat and meaningful lyric.

I’ve seen The Big Moon in Sheffield, England back in 2016 opening for Ezra Furman. They are a band nobody should ever miss live, especially now with the hype they have around Europe! They are gracing Germany with their musical presence in May—so make sure to grab tickets and get ready to experience one of the most raw, indie rock bands around!
